Gnomes and halflings
Newly freed, many halfings and gnomes fled the elven kingdoms. Those who stayed were forced into menial roles and hard labor for little pay. Those who fled found little solace on the continent. Generally accepted as equals in the free elven nations, the human lands treat them little better than their island elf cousins. Pushed to the fringes of society, gnomes and halflings found themselves affected severely by the invasion and occupation. Many see the retreat of the enemy as an opportunity to set up their own lives in the abandoned frontier, and a large minority of the initial resettlement was of their kind.
